MAKE MORE MONEY
Here’s your plan, from Scott Dobroski of Glassdoor.
Before you accept the position
Ask how people typically get promotions and raises. You’ll collect valuable intel. (Take notes!)
A year before your salary review
Sit down with your manager to set monthly or quarterly measurable goals and track successes.
T-minus 4 weeks
Write down your accomplishments.
T-minus 3 weeks
Tell your boss you want to talk salary. Prep your documents.
T-minus 1 week
Condense your notes into a single page and include your fair market value. Resist the urge to fudge – your employer has access to Glassdoor too.
Give the document to your direct manager and walk him or her through it.
2 weeks after: follow up.
“Be persistent,” says Dobroski.
