Two month old ba­by dies af­ter fall

An in­fant, not e­ven two mont­hs old, died on Sa­tur­day pos­si­bly due to in­ju­ries sus­tai­ned w­hen he slip­ped from his mot­her's arms.

The mot­her, a 24-y­e­ar-old di­a­be­tic ac­cor­ding to the po­li­ce, had a blackout at a ho­me in the Al­bert

Lut­hu­li sett­le­ment on F­ri­day, 22 Sep­tem­ber whil­st hol­ding the ba­by boy. The child's grand­mot­her was al­so pre­sent at the sce­ne du­ring the in­ci­dent. E­mer­gen­cy ser­vi­ces we­re no­ti­fied and vi­si­ted the sce­ne to ex­a­mi­ne the ba­by. Ac­cor­ding to the po­li­ce sta­te­ment, t­hey re­tur­ned the in­fant to his mot­her's ca­re al­le­ge­d­ly sta­ting that he was "flex­i­ble" and the­re­fo­re, didn't sus­tain ma­jor in­ju­ry. The ba­by, ho­we­ver, died the fol­lo­wing day, 23 Sep­tem­ber at 07:40. The re­sults of the post mor­tem in­di­ca­ted that the cau­se of de­ath was blunt for­ce he­ad trau­ma. The mot­her has sin­ce been tre­a­ted at a lo­cal hos­pi­tal. Ward coun­cil­lors of the Mos­sel Bay Mu­ni­ci­pa­li­ty ha­ve co­me to sup­port the grie­ving mot­her fol­lo­wing the in­fant's de­ath. War­rant of­fi­cer Ar­leen S­to­kes of the Da Ga­mas­kop-po­li­ce is the in­ves­ti­ga­ting of­fi­cer in the ca­se.
