icouldn’t visit a country and not tr y out dishes I haven’t tried and dishes I have tried so I can make a comparison. With tourists flooding the islands, Seychellios had to cook up some special cuisines to keep them fed and enter tained. Local traditional dishes from the fish (grilled or salted), coconuts, breadfruit to smoked fish salad. Being an absolute foodie, I took it upon myself to gallivant the islands to find the best places to dine and have the best Seychellios experience in Mahé, La Digue and Praslin.

Bravo Restaurant, Eden Island

Located on Eden Island, on Seychelles’ main island Mahé, Bravo restaurant is well known for overlooking the marina where you get to see the most st ylish yachts docked. Fresh catch seafood is their most popular serving, which includes the killer prawn, red snapper and tuna that is accompanied with some Seychellios homemade chilli sauce. You must try the chilli! The laid back décor gives you a casual and relaxed feeling and it’s a perfect place to bring your family or friends. The Seychellios take pride when it comes to their home-brewed beer called SeyBrew Lager. You can come and enjoy a bottle of the beer or swap it for a draf t, while you are relaxing and enjoying the view of the marina. In the evenings the restaurant changes into a vibey restaurant/lounge with chandeliers, where locals and tourists can come and relax. Whether it is a vibey evening, lunching in with friends and family or simply a date. Bravo restaurant simply has all in one.

Café des Arts Restaurant, Praslin

Another location with breath-taking beachfront views, this restaurant overlooks the Le Duc de Praslin. Their waterfilled couches are a great place to water the water wade in. But if it’s not your style, comfortable bean bags and tables are available too. One of my favourite touches were the swings they had along the white beaches and blue water. Anyone who walks along the restaurant should take some time to take photos around the swing and it was also a great way for people to notice the restaurant. They paid attention to all the finer details and even the table décor was elegantly placed. The menu was simple from your beef burgers to the seafood pasta. I loved the fact that they provided us with actual steaks in our burgers and a fresh cabbage, coleslaw. I went during lunchtime and they made us aware that they they have separate menus for lunch and dinner. Their ser vice was excellent and the food was delicious. I loved every bit of it. Café des Arts Restaurant is a must visit and I was lucky enough to experience the relaxed lunchtime vibes.

Fish Trap Restaurant, La Digue

Situated in the busy streets of La Digue, the Fish Trap restaurant is a short stroll from the docks where the ferr y drops you off. Friendly staff and good food are what makes you want to come back to a place. Marble decorated walls with a hint of blue and white décor gave off a fresh and cool feeling at the restaurant. The food was reasonably priced. For starters I had a smoked salmon salad with some freshly baked bun. For my main course, I decided to go with my all-time favourite

a steak with hand cut chips. The steak was cooked to perfection and it was medium well done just how I like it. I love how restaurants in the Seychelles always add on to your plate without any extra cost. My plate came with very tast y steamed vegetables. For dessert I decided to indulge myself with some tiramisu and I loved it. Just the right amount. It was light and delicately sweet and sof t. Trap Fish Restaurant comes highly recommended.

Chatterbox, Mahé

My journey to the Seychelles ended off at a restaurant that was offering delicious dishes. Chatter Box is also situated on Eden Island and it had a blend of café and restaurant atmosphere. There were people there for lunch and some where there to grab a cup of coffee, chat or simply relax in their DIY style wooden crate booths. The restaurant had such a community vibe and it was stunningly decorated. As you enter, there is a section where pastries are offered. The deco was playful and I loved how they even made some chairs from wooden pallets. The menu was accommodating to everyone . It ranged from pastries to breakfast food.

One thing I noticed as well is they had a lot of South African brands.
