Further to your recent article on new farming apps, I thought you might like to hear about another app that is finding favour with farmers, albeit very different to the two you featured.

Farming groups are often connected by radio network, when they can afford this, and more recently Whatsapp groups for general communication. In an emergency, though, there’s normally not any time for either of these, which is why they’re so keen on the speed and simplicity of the Shake2Alert app. As the name says, you just shake your phone and an alert is instantly sent to all of your chosen emergency contacts. Along with your exact GPS location, which is really useful in out-of-the way places, the contacts also receive video and audio from your phone.

Other features include Man Down, a Journey function and a Bluetooth panic button though, so that they can trigger an alert while the phone is in a Camelbak or pocket.
