HYUNDAI KONA

Popular Mechanics (South Africa) - - Driving -

Named after a Hawaiian region, Kona – sister car to the Kia Stonic – is based on the company's all-new B- SUV compact platform. Its raised seating and ride height are part of an innovative design, which includes a split floor that boosts cabin space by avoiding that intrusive central tunnel (even with the optional four- wheel drive), while the compact independent rear suspension similarly means more space inside. The running gear is said to have been designed to suit European conditions. Says Hyundai vice chairman Euisun Chung, “With the Kona, we have created a stylish and highly functional compact SUV, perfectly suited to the needs of customers who pursue challenging, action-filled lifestyles.”
