Five friends die in horror crash
FIVE friends, co-workers at a KwaZulu-Natal beauty salon, were killed in a car crash in Bergville on Monday. They were on their way home from work when the Toyota Avanza they were travelling in was involved in an accident with a Land Rover on the R616.
Hoosen Khaliq Asmal, his mother Mariam, Ashraf Sayed Camroo and his brother, Hafez Ahmed Sayed Camroo, and Ariyanah Akoo were employed at the Beauty House in Bergville. They were buried yesterday.
The three survivors who were with them are Nerosha Moodley, 27, her sister-in-law Michelle Moodley, 38, and the father of the two dead brothers, Sayed Camroo, 56. The latter two suffered minor injuries.
The three occupants in the Land Rover – which Ladysmith councillor Abbas Warasally claims was being driven by a politician after a rally – were injured and taken to hospital.
Moodley remains critical, her husband Anthony, 32, told POST.
Warasally said: “The entire community of Ladysmith is in shock. My sincere condolences to the bereaved family and a speedy recovery to Nerosha Moodley.”
Police spokesperson Thembeka Mbhele said a case of culpable homicide was being investigated.
