Gopio allows young Indians to network
THE Association of Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) International Youth Conference will be held in Malaysia next month and the organisers have extended an invite to South Africans.
The conference, organised by GOPIO Malaysia, will take place from December 15 to 17 at the Port Dickson Golf and Country Club and is a platform to enhance networking among young Indians.
It is also aimed at continuing with the traditions of GOPIO in business, technology and socio-culture cooperation. In a statement, the chairperson of GOPIO international, Selvarajoo Sundram, said: “It is also an initiative to identify, nurture and groom leaders for the future.”
The conference is open to 50 youths pursuing their pre-university and undergraduate studies and between the ages of 17 and 25 from Malaysia and diaspora countries.
A conference fee will be charged for participation and youths will be hosted at foster homes of GOPIO members.
The South African leg is being co-ordinated by Jimmy Moodley, who will provide a rundown of the costs.
