Man jailed for rape
A 26-year-old man received 20 years’ imprisonment after he was convicted in the Butterworth Regional Magistrate’s Court on Thursday of rape.
Sikholiwe Gwantshu was convicted of raping a 19-year-old woman.
Eastern Cape Police spokesperson Jackson Manatha said that on April 22, at 5.15pm, the woman was walking with a friend in Zundwana Village, Dutywa, when they came across Gwantshu, who had a knife.
“He instructed both women to undress. The other woman ran away but the victim was not so lucky,” Manatha said. – ANA
