Belle, her little sis­ter, and her co­matose twin brother move into a new house with their sin­gle mother, Joan, in or­der to save money to help pay for her brother’s ex­pen­sive health care. But when strange phe­nom­ena be­gin to oc­cur in the house in­clud­ing the mirac­u­lous re­cov­ery of her brother, Belle be­gins to sus­pect her mother isn’t telling her ev­ery­thing and soon re­alises they’ve just moved into the in­fa­mous Amityville house. Af­ter trad­ing in his cor­po­rate sales ca­reer to be­come a pas­tor, Michael’s first as­sign­ment is All Saints, a quaint coun­try church with a dozen mem­bers. It comes with a catch: He has to close the church doors for good and sell the prime piece of land on which it sits. But, when the church hes­i­tantly be­gins wel­com­ing Karen refugees from Burma, Michael feels called to an im­prob­a­ble new mis­sion.
