THE DA-led multi-party administration of Tshwane has attended to a total of 4 406 land invasions in the city since the beginning of the year.

Of the 4 406 unlawfully erected structures, the city demolished 3 161, it said.

Between January and June, the council received and attended to 2 744 complaints and demolished 2 271 illegal structures.

From July to September alone, 1 662 complaints were dealt with and 890 unlawful structures removed.

“Residents should not allow themselves to be used as political pawns by the ANC in Tshwane, which cannot accept its electoral defeat,” said mayoral spokesperson Samkelo Mgobozi.

He said there was a legal process through which the required housing was allocated. – Staff Reporter
