THE South African Foot­ball Player’s Union (Safpu) has signed a mem­o­ran­dum of un­der­stand with the Road Ac­ci­dent Fund in its ef­fort to curb the deaths of tal­ented foot­ball play­ers in car ac­ci­dents.

On Sun­day, Mar­itzburg United were dealt a ma­jor blow when one of their young promis­ing prospects, Mlondi Dlamini, lost his life in a car ac­ci­dent. The coun­try has lost tal­ented play­ers like Les­ley “Slow Poi­son” Many­athela, Gift “Vum Vum” Leremi, Ce­cil Lolo and Richard Henyakane in the same man­ner in the past.
