Saving soccer lives
THE South African Football Player’s Union (Safpu) has signed a memorandum of understand with the Road Accident Fund in its effort to curb the deaths of talented football players in car accidents.
On Sunday, Maritzburg United were dealt a major blow when one of their young promising prospects, Mlondi Dlamini, lost his life in a car accident. The country has lost talented players like Lesley “Slow Poison” Manyathela, Gift “Vum Vum” Leremi, Cecil Lolo and Richard Henyakane in the same manner in the past.
Tebogo Monyai, vice-president at Safpu, said they were taking the matter very seriously. – Minenhle Mkhize
