Jets to attract those in air medical or charter services
TWO LEARJET 55s – one an airframe only – will be sold by Park Village Auctions (PVA), at a liquidation auction at Lanseria Airport on October 25 at noon.
Roy Lazarus of PVA says the sale of the ZS-ELI and ZS-ELJ jets will appeal to those involved in charter and air medical services.
“While the one aircraft is configured 7/2 for passenger charter services, the sale includes Spectrum stretcher beds, allowing for the jets to be reconfigured for medical air rescue if required,” he says.
ZS-ELI is a 1983 Learjet 55 “air ambulance” powered by two Honeywell TFE 731 engines. With a range of about 3000km), the Learjet series is renowned for fuel efficiency, speed and performance. The jet is certified for charter operations and fitted with the latest Traffic Collision Avoidance System, digital flight data and cockpit voice recorder.
The ZS-ELJ aircraft will be sold as airframe only but contains many spare parts. Included in the auction, as separate lots, are a Honeywell TFE731 engine, avionics, radios and general aircraft spares.
“The Learjet 55 was the first stand-up cabin produced by Learjet. With a separate toilet compartment with basin and running water, and a compact galley with water heater and oven, this jet can reach all over Africa,” says Lazarus. “The auction is an opportunity to acquire an aircraft which has been a favourite among corporates and individuals since the 1960s, at a very affordable price.”
