3rd Agricultural Extension Week Conference
30 October − 3 November 2017
The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, in partnership with the African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS) and the South African Society for Agricultural Extension (SASAE), will host an international conference that will bring together extension and advisory services practitioners, farmers, researchers, and institutions of higher learning from across Africa.
The AFAAS is a continental platform for mutual learning and innovation among agricultural extension and advisory service providers across Africa.The SASAE is a scientific society that is committed to the promotion of science and vocation of agricultural extension, through its members.
The conference will be hosted under the theme: 'Scaling up Climate Smart Agriculture: Integrating youth, women, and the digital revolution'.
The theme was selected in recognition of the impact climate change is having on resource-poor African farmers and increasingly contributing to food losses along the whole value chain.
The conference takes place at the Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani Hotel in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, from 30 October to 3 November 2017.
