Who is new on Per­sal?

Dr Moshibudi Ram­pedi has been ap­pointed Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer of the South African Na­tional Bio­di­ver­sity In­sti­tute (SANBI).

Prior to her ap­point­ment, she was Deputy Di­rec­tor-Gen­eral for Forestry and Nat­u­ral Re­sources Man­age­ment at the Depart­ment of Agri­cul­ture, Forestry and Fish­eries.

Ram­pedi of­fers a com­bi­na­tion of ed­u­ca­tion, tech­ni­cal and man­age­ment ex­per­tise in the pub­lic sec­tor and ex­pe­ri­ence as a diplo­mat.

She holds a Doc­tor of Ed­u­ca­tion de­gree from the Univer­sity of South Africa, along with an En­vi­ron­men­tal Man­age­ment Di­ploma from Home Study Col­lege.

Ram­pedi ob­tained a Mas­ter of Sci­ence in Ecol­ogy from the Univer­sity of Wales in the United King­dom. She also holds a Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence Honours in Botany from the Univer­sity of Fort Hare and a Bach­e­lor of Ped­a­gog­ics in Sci­ence from the Univer­sity of Fort Hare.

Her global ex­pe­ri­ence in mul­ti­lat­eral and bi­lat­eral re­la­tions in­cludes rep­re­sent­ing South Africa in the United Na­tions Fora, SADC coun­tries, Europe, North and South Amer­ica, Asia and other coun­tries such as New Zealand, Ethiopia, Kenya, Qatar, Côte d'Ivoire, the Cen­tral African Repub­lic, Tu­nisia and Morocco.

In her new role, she will be ex­pected to con­tinue with the rep­utable work of SANBI as a reference body for Bio­di­ver­sity Man­age­ment na­tion­ally and in­ter­na­tion­ally.
