African insurance conference to focus on regulation
The theme of the third Annual Africa Insurance and Reinsurance Conference 2013, to be hosted in Nairobi, Kenya from 18 to 19 June, is ‘Redefining the Insurer of the Future’ and will focus on key fundamentals of the business. The event promises up-to-date input on the latest industry developments, marketing strategies and product innovations relevant for the African market. New technologies, development of new client segments and the overall economic growth in the continent is not only forcing regional insurers to rethink the way they conduct business, but also forcing the global players to look at Africa as a strategic market for growth. The conference will aid industry players in understanding the new regulatory initiatives and how they will play into a sustainable future for the industry in Africa. Key discussion points include forces of change in the industry, such as reinsurance rates, cross-border convergence and whether the industry will consolidate or remain fragmented. Adapting to evolving regulatory frameworks in the regional insurance market through portfolio balancing and addressing the profitability challenges associated with competition are also up for discussion.
