Fol­low­ing 20 years of ser­vice to the in­sur­ance mar­ket as CEO of the South African In­sur­ance As­so­ci­a­tion (SAIA), Barry Scott has joined the Ful­crum Group as of De­cem­ber 2014. Scott will work closely with Ful­crum CEO Vaughan Jones as head of projects and in­te­gra­tion. Says Jones: “Our busi­ness has gone through a pe­riod of sus­tained and ex­cit­ing growth. With the many op­por­tu­ni­ties fac­ing us, cou­pled with our be­lief that Ful­crum is best placed to as­sist in­ter­me­di­aries with all their fi­nan­cial needs dur­ing a time of con­sid­er­able change in the in­sur­ance land­scape, adding a team mem­ber like Barry – with his ex­pe­ri­ence and de­sire to make a dif­fer­ence – is a real win for us.”


Thabo Moodie joined Cen­triq’s Al­ter­na­tive Risk Fi­nance di­vi­sion in the po­si­tion of ac­count ex­ec­u­tive re­cently. Moodie is cur­rently busy com­plet­ing his MBA at the Uni­ver­sity of the Free State – the same in­sti­tu­tion where he ob­tained his B.Com Hons in Ac­count­ing in 2008. He com­pleted his TOPP Ar­ti­cles with ABSA where he held var­i­ous top po­si­tions be­fore he sub­se­quently joined the IQ Busi­ness Group as Prin­ci­pal Con­sul­tant, Fi­nance and Risk. Moodie was with Bar­clays Africa CIB be­fore he de­cided to join lead­ing com­pany, Cen­triq.


San­lam has an­nounced the ap­point­ment of Cle­ment Burns Booth as in­de­pen­dent nonex­ec­u­tive direc­tor to the San­lam board of di­rec­tors with ef­fect from 1 Jan­uary 2015. Booth, who is based in Lon­don, has vast ex­ec­u­tive and board ex­pe­ri­ence in the fi­nan­cial ser­vices in­dus­try lo­cally and abroad. He cur­rently serves as a mem­ber of the Board of Man­age­ment of Al­lianz SE, re­spon­si­ble for global in­sur­ance lines (cor­po­rate and spe­cialty in­sur­ance), rein­sur­ance and An­glo mar­kets (UK, Ire­land and Australia) and will take up the San­lam po­si­tion upon his re­tire­ment from this po­si­tion at year- end. “I am hon­oured to take up membership of the board of di­rec­tors of San­lam and I hope my knowl­edge and ex­pe­ri­ence will con­trib­ute to guiding the com­pany’s con­tin­ued growth and stature as a di­ver­si­fied multi­na­tional fi­nan­cial ser­vices com­pany,” Booth said.

The San­lam Group has an­nounced the ap­point­ment of Hu­bert Brody, as its new chief ex­ec­u­tive of group strat­egy and projects, with ef­fect from Jan­uary 2015. Brody is the for­mer chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of Im­pe­rial Hold­ings. “Brody, a char­tered ac­coun­tant, is cred­ited with tak­ing over Im­pe­rial dur­ing one of its most chal­leng­ing pe­ri­ods and di­rect­ing the group’s ex­pan­sion in Europe and into the rest of Africa. Dur­ing his ten­ure as CEO from 2007 to 2014, he presided over a sig­nif­i­cant in­crease in the Im­pe­rial Hold­ings share price and built a solid rep­u­ta­tion for im­ple­men­ta­tion and de­liv­ery,” San­lam said in a state­ment.


The San­lam group an­nounced that San­lam Per­sonal Fi­nance chief ex­ec­u­tive, Lizé Lam­brechts, will take over as San­tam chief ex­ec­u­tive from cur­rent CEO Ian Kirk,
