The original hometown of the late Nelson Mandela, Mthatha, is one of those local landmarks that all South Africans ought to visit at least once in their lifetime. As one of the main towns in the Eastern Cape, Mthatha is relatively large as far as dorpies are concerned, and even has its own Mthatha Airport.we suggest that you start your trip by visiting the Nelson Mandela Museum, followed by a comfortable night at the Mayfair Hotel. Located in the heart of Mthatha CBD, the hotel has 92 upmarket guest rooms comprising of 88 Standard rooms, two Executive rooms, one Presidential suite, and one luxurious Penthouse. After your luxury overnight stop, head out to do some serious off-road adventuring at the nearby Mdumbi Beach (more or less a two hour drive away) or Bulungula Beach (which is about two and a half hours away). Both of these beaches are highly secluded and offer spectacular natural surroundings of rolling hills and green landscapes.
