A PUMPKIN PIT STOP
Just 275 km from Cape Town lies the unassuming town of Heidelberg. An otherwise quiet dorpie, this town becomes a hub of activity for the annual Giant Pumpkin Festival. Held on 23-24 March, this year the event will be bigger than ever – and we are not just talking about the pumpkins! The festivities kick off with a fun day of golf, as well as a 15 km trail run and a 25 km mountain bike cycle event. Ending off the day is a hearty Ox Braai accompanied by live music and an open dancefloor. For your smaller companions, the day will be filled with events such as the Pumpkin Tug of War, a jumping castle, putt-putt, a climbing wall, water slide, face painting, and much more. Overnight camping adjacent to the showgrounds will be made available, and the local accommodation offers tempting overnight options.
