THE INBOX WINNING LETTER

Runner's World South Africa - - The Loop -

PARALLEL UNIVERSE

In the July 2017 issue of Runner’s World, an RW staffer revealed his most annoying distraction on the run is ‘people who shout out your name during a race, just because they’ve seen it printed on your number’. But what if the supporters stood there mute, with their hands in their pockets? What if we weren’t even allowed to talk to our fellow runners? At races, I can’t imagine myself being in a space where I’m so sure of myself that I don’t need words of encouragement. I’m an introvert, but when it comes to running, I love hearing runners’ tales of triumph and disaster. – MARK KRUG, JOHANNESBURG
