My most re­cent find was a post from a friend, Evert Laub­scher who had a whale of a time fish­ing jerk­baits in the cold, June win­ter waters of Rood­ekop­jes Dam in Kameeldrift, just 30km out­side of Brits.

This great catch re­ally spiked my in­ter­est be­cause it is sel­dom that I hear of an­glers fish­ing jerk­baits and ac­tu­ally shar­ing their sto­ries, in fact sel­dom that I hear an­glers who are con­fi­dent in fish­ing a jerk­bait at all!

Jerk­baits are cer­tainly top of my list when it comes to search­ing for bass, as they are a pro­found op­tion for cov­er­ing wa­ter quickly and they can turn a re­ally dull fish­ing day into a fun-packed, ac­tion in­duced frenzy. I sat with Evert to in­ter­view him and learn from his fish­ing ex­pe­ri­ence on Rood­ekop­jes. These are his se­crets he was will­ing to di­vulge:
