Dreaming of a matric dance dress
LAST weekend the Saturday Star published a story in its People of Jozi section about a man named Petros Mofokeng.
He spoke about his disa p p o i n t me n t at not being able to afford to send his daughter, Lerato, to her matric farewell.
The Saturday Star has received hundreds of e-mails over the past week from concerned South Africans offering to help Mofokeng’s family.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to People of Jozi’s Facebook and Instagram followers, the Saturday Star newspaper readers, and all those who have come forward and offered to help Petros send Lerato to her matric farewell.
We would like to ask that you drop off your generous donation at the Star building at 47 Pixley ka Isaka Seme Street (Sauer Street) in the Joburg CBD.
We will make sure that Petros and his family receive them. Lerato will now be able to choose her own dress for the dance, which takes place at the end of the month. We will produce a follow-up story and video.
We would like to donate all the dresses that she doesn’t choose to the Princess Project.
