PROBLEM IS LACK OF SCHOOL DISCIPLINE

Saturday Star - - METRO - Leader of the Boer Republican Party

I HAVE to commend Vijay Surajpal on his excellent letter in last week’s Saturday Star.

I was a school secretary at a high school for boys for 30 years and can assure you that the boys 30 years ago had the utmost respect for teachers, and in fact for any adult.

What has gone so terribly wrong? Lack of discipline allowed at the school, discipline in the home, etc.

I know from my experience that it is so hard to be a teacher of learners who have respect – it is really difficult to do their jobs efficiently with learners who are not disciplined or have no respect.
