Eugenie shapes up royally
LIKE all brides, royal or not, Princess Eugenie wanted to look her best on her big day.
So Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter threw herself into an intensive diet and exercise regime ahead of her marriage to Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle yesterday.
Princess Eugenie Victoria Helena of York, born on March 23, 1990, is the younger daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. (Their other daughter, Beatrice, is 30.)
Eugenie, 28, is ninth in line to the throne.
The St George’s Chapel wedding marks a transformation from her younger days that set the British media aflurry.
Eugenie has appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, the Daily Mail and elsewhere, looking every bit the blushing bride.
In an interview with Harper’s she shared the secrets of a day in her life, revealing that she shops at Waitrose, does her make-up in the car, finds heels tricky to walk in and likes to watch Netflix.
She listed chips, Diet Coke and cashew nuts as her indulgences, and vodka soda with lime.
Eugenie’s Instagram posts in recent weeks include cute portraits of her and Brooksbank – also put out by Buckingham Palace this week. They show the pair with sweet, almost identical toothy grins.
Eugenie has been dating Stoweeducated Brooksbank, 31, for seven years since they met on a ski holiday. Jack works for Casamigos tequila. The couple live in a cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace close to Harry and Meghan.
Her engagement ring is a rare pink two-carat padparadscha sapphire.
Wedding guests speculated to attend at the time of press included Ellie Goulding, Ed Sheeran, Robbie Williams and Sir Elton John.
The cake, made by Sophie Cabot, was chocolate and red velvet rather than a traditional iced fruit cake.
Individual flourishes, according to reports included a plastic-free day, in line with the princess’s environmental stance. The event extends to today, with reports of a festival with a fairground and afternoon tea at The Royal Lodge, home of Prince Andrew.
Eugenie, who is often spotted wearing designs from British labels such as Erdem, Burberry and Vivienne Westwood, reportedly recruited nutritionist Gabriela Peacock, the diet guru who helped Prince Harry trim down for his wedding. She has also been running and hitting the gym almost daily, according to sources.
You can watch the wedding on ITV Choice (Dstv 123) on Tuesday at 8pm. | Daily Mail and IOL
