Our fea­ture on artist Mag­gie Laub­ser (Mag­gie Laub­ser’s For­ever Light page 36) by Nick van der Leek, great-grand­son of mas­ter artist Ti­nus de Jongh, is Nick’s twelfth in an on­go­ing se­ries for COUN­TRY LIFE on the great artists of South Africa. Nick is one of the coun­try’s most pro­lific free­lance pho­to­jour­nal­ists, and one who wears many hats. Along­side his pas­sion for art and the land­scape, he is a best­selling true-crime au­thor of more than 40 books. In 2016 alone Nick pub­lished an as­ton­ish­ing 12 books, in­clud­ing two trilo­gies on the unsolved JonBenét Ram­sey case, and in the same year was of­fered an in­ter­na­tional pub­lish­ing con­tract for a fan­tasy epic.
