The Richest Bird Garden in the Berg
As author of our birding feature
The Richest Bird Garden in the Berg (page 77), David Johnson, has quite the credentials – degrees in botany and zoology, a doctorate on the forest birds of the Niger Delta, lecturer at Wits, resident ornithologist for what was the
Natal Parks Board, freelance ecological consultant, public speaker, and leader of nature tours. With his wife Sally he has authored several books on indigenous gardening, and contributed to the Roberts VII Multimedia project on Southern Africa’s birds. Among his private passions are chess (school champion), bridge (played for Wales) and cricket (batting average began with a decimal point).
