World-trav­elled food and wine con­nois­seur and writer, and reg­u­lar con­trib­u­tor to our wine and restau­rant re­views, Greg Land­man was on his way to New Zealand about 20 years ago when he re­alised how far away it was. The al­ter­na­tive was to sem­i­grate to West Beach, Cape Town, and he has never looked back. Hav­ing eaten in hun­dreds of restau­rants and tasted umpteen bot­tles of the best the Cape has to of­fer, he says he is “as happy as a lit­tle pig in the prover­bial hay stack”. But the out­side world still en­tices, with jaunts to France and Por­tu­gal, his favourites at the mo­ment.
