Up to it ?

South African Country Life - - Hiking -

You need to be fit and agile to complete the 19.2km Bushman Route (which can take up to nine hours), but the farm has trails to suit everyone.

The moderately strenuous, 7.4km Gifboom

Route is a great option in spring as you’ll see scattered daisies as well as a variety of viooltjies (lachenalias), watsonia, gladioli, chincherinchees, pelargoniums and other bulbs in flower.

Shorter hikes include the 1.8km Pothole Route, the 4.4km out and back route to Sleepers Cave, and the 3.7km Hammerkop Route, which takes you past a waterfall with a massive rock pool at its base.

If you’re feeling adventurous, carry overnight gear on the Bushman Route and sleep out under the stars on the banks of the Doring River.

There’s also a 4x4 and MTB route, with a basic, riverside campsite at Bruinkrans.

The 40km MTB trail on the farm is not marked, but riders are issued with a map. Riding to Vanrhynsdorp on the Ouberg and Gifberg passes is a great way for fit cyclists to explore the area.
