GAR­DENS OF THE GOLDEN CITY 1– 2 SEPTEM­BER Sand­spruit River Ram­ble

Stroll along this well-tended, se­cure sec­tion of the Sand­spruit River in Jo’burg and en­joy 8km of peace­ful re­lax­ation. Boere­wors rolls and re­fresh­ments will be on sale, or bring a pic­nic. Dogs are wel­come. Open from 10h00 – 17h00, en­trance is R30; chil­dren un­der 12 are free, dogs R10 each. From Kelvin Drive, turn left into Stigh­ling, first right into 1st Avenue. 15 – 16 SEPTEM­BER Jo­han­nes­burg Gar­den Club Open Gar­dens Me­an­der

Five new gar­dens will be open in Bryanston and Atholl from 10h00 – 17h00. Kitchen gar­dens and wa­ter fea­tures, like the one pic­tured above, will be high­lighted. There’ll be plants in­clud­ing clivias, aza­leas, clematis and irises for sale. Re­lax at the tea gar­den. Tick­ets, R250 pp, in­clude en­try to all five gar­dens and must be pre-booked at jo­han­nes­burggar­den­club.co.za or webtick­ets.co.za; chil­dren un­der are 12 free.
