Let’s raise our girls to be strong future women

Sowetan - - Opinion -

As we celebrate International Day of the Girl Child, we should bear in mind that today’s girls are mothers of tomorrow.

It’s upon us to raise women who are equipped socially, culturally, politically and intellectually.

Girls face many societal ills such as rape and abuse by men who should protect them.

I urge girls to abstain from booze, unprotected sex and “blessers”, wolves who seek to destroy your bright future! How can unplanned pregnancy and HIV be a blessing?

You can choose to mould your future or melt it away! As future women, you need to arm yourselves with a powerful weapon called education to be able to face all challenges in life. Amos Tebeila, Mohlaletse Village
