Teacher should know two wrongs don’t make a right

-

The video of a teacher slapping a pupil in a classroom which went viral this week is a shame and disgrace to the entire country.

The behaviour of our children is unruly and rebellious. Our children are unmanageable, they lack self-esteem and discipline. As parents, we must teach our children good behaviour.

We can’t expect teachers to teach our children how to conduct themselves.

Teachers have their hands full dealing with our ill-disciplined children, and to expect them to teach our children good behaviour is asking for too much.

However, it’s only possible to have well-mannered children when parents are also involved in instilling good morals and ethics in their kids.

Nonetheless, the teacher on the video might have overstepped the mark or overreacted, but her mistake was to raise her hand and slap the pupil.

That is absolutely wrong; as the saying goes, two wrongs don’t make a right.

Both parties are wrong and the situation should have been dealt with differently for a positive outcome.
