WIT­SAND A fun wee­kend with so­me se­ri­ous SUP’ing (Stand-Up Padd­ling) can be ex­pected at the u­p­co­ming Pi­li Pi­li W­ha­le of a Ra­ce that has es­ta­blis­hed it­self as one of the be­st paying Stand Up Padd­le­bo­ard ra­ces in the coun­try.

This e­vent will be ta­king pla­ce on Sa­tur­day 29 Sep­tem­ber at Wit­sand and cash pri­zes up to R35 000 are up for grabs. Pri­zes don’t, ho­we­ver, co­me e­a­sy. The mig­hty B­ree­de Ri­ver al­ways has a sur­pri­se wai­ting for ra­ce day, w­het­her it is wind, cur­rents, sand­banks or wa­ves and it is bound to be very in­te­res­ting. Throw in an NSRI be­ne­fit ‘pot­jie’, sur­fing, ki­ting and the in­do­mi­ta­ble Beer­pong C­hamps and this wee­kend pro­mi­ses to be a wee­kend su­re to re­mem­ber. The Sout­hern Rig­ht w­ha­le num­bers are bre­a­king re­cords in Wit­sand this y­e­ar with o­ver 1 300 coun­ted in the San Se­bas­ti­an Bay a­rea. Nu­me­rous whi­te cal­ves are al­so to be seen. The or­ga­ni­sers are in­clu­ding a Ba­by W­ha­le e­vent this y­e­ar for kids and lei­su­re pad­d­lers and no one has an ex­cu­se to stay at ho­me.
