Do

Add a “no siblings” line on the invitations because sometimes people with four children will bring all four to the party.

Remember the party is for the kids — it’s not for the parents to socialise with their friends.

Don’t

Send elaborate invites. Make the party too long for any age group; it doesn’t have to be more than four hours.

Feel you must have a theme - it can create pressure.

Try to micromanage everything.
