Chance for Gigaba
He’s been criticised for his cosy ties with the Gupta family, but Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba will get to show what he is made of when he presents his first medium-term budget policy statement in parliament on Wednesday. Ratings agencies will look closely at how Gigaba intends dealing with a projected revenue shortfall of R40-billion and what action, if any, he intends taking to shore up governance and financial controls at state companies.
