‘Every year I’m shuffling’

This week’s cabinet reshuffle was President Zuma’s 12th since coming into office in May 2009. The longest-serving of his cabinets lasted 18 months, while the shortest was just five days after the axing of Nhlanhla Nene as finance minister. Nene’s replacemen­t, Des van Rooyen, was later dumped in favour of Pravin Gordhan — only for Gordhan to be sent packing in March this year
