This week’s cabinet reshuffle was President Zuma’s 12th since coming into office in May 2009. The longest-serving of his cabinets lasted 18 months, while the shortest was just five days after the axing of Nhlanhla Nene as finance minister. Nene’s replacement, Des van Rooyen, was later dumped in favour of Pravin Gordhan — only for Gordhan to be sent packing in March this year
