Who is Dr Shevel?

Maxillofacial surgeon Elliot Shevel opened the Headache Clinic in 1992 after designing an appliance to treat painful jaw muscles: the device helped to relax the jaw into its natural resting position. To his surprise, many patients treated for jaw muscle tension “reported that their migraines improved or disappeared with the use of the [device]”, he says. Shevel then discovered that most headache pain does not originate in the brain, but from outside the skull.
