Supermarket accused of Nutella fraud
French fraud authorities on Thursday accused supermarket chain Intermarche of illegally selling Nutella below cost, after heavy discounts had sparked a shopping frenzy.
The DGCCRF fraud watchdog said the firm could face a fine of à375 000 (R5.3-million).
Videos of shoppers jostling for cut-price tubs of the spread — and Pampers nappies, Carte Noire coffee and Perrier water — went viral last month.
