Zap-sign cyclist sues over firing

-

● A marketing executive who lost her job after giving the middle finger to Donald Trump’s motorcade is suing her ex-employer for wrongful dismissal.

Juli Briskman filed a legal complaint in Virginia accusing Akima, a government contractor, of violating the state’s employment law.

Briskman was on a weekend bike ride in October when she made the gesture as the US president’s convoy of vehicles passed by. Her one-fingered salute was captured by a photographer working for two global news agencies.

The image was widely circulated across the world, and Briskman then put it on her own Facebook and Twitter pages.

Briskman claimed she was forced to resign for violating Akima’s social media policy, adding that Americans should not have to choose between “principles and their pay cheques”.

She had been cycling through Sterling as Trump overtook her on the way to one of his golf courses. She said she had been thinking about gun victims, and said to herself “Really? You’re golfing again?” before raising her finger. — © The Daily Telegraph, London
