Tsamaya

This week’s soccer buzz

-

● Safa and Andile "Ace" Ncobo have been at each other’s throats in the past few months but their tiff escalated to unprecedented heights this week when the Safa chief executive Dennis Mumble called the former Fifa referee and PSL general manager a ‘clown’ who must be ignored. Among his powerful jabs aimed at Safa, Ncobo claimed they don’t have an auditor and face the possibility of being banned by Fifa. Tsamaya’s advice is you get a house full of popcorn because there are still twists and turns left in this saga.

● One SABC commentator, who admittedly is superb at what he does, had the audacity to say his fellow footballers used to call him “Baresi” in his playing days. Those who still follow Italian football and support the now struggling AC Milan will know that Franco Baresi is regarded as one of the best “libero” to come from the womb of "Catenaccio" football. He's good and those who understand one of the South African languages that sounds like Africanised French will know this but let's not go about overselling our limited footballing talents.

● Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael appears to be highly entertained by reports linking him to Kaizer Chiefs, telling reporters this week he’s waiting for a call from Kaizer Motaung. What puzzles is Eymael claiming they are no longer on speaking terms with Steve Komphela, who doesn’t take kindly to those talking about his job. If there’s no smoke, then what the sudden cold-war all about?
