The ANC is preparing to convince voters that the party is no longer the same as that of uBaba kaDuduzane. It has compiled a booklet for its foot soldiers on how to win the hearts of voters. Hogarth couldn’t help but chuckle when he read the instruction on how to use a loud-hailer: “The person using the hailer should be trained and clear about what to say. Some people like to become pop stars when they have the loud-hailer.”
