Two-day auction of farms, implements and assets

● Farmers should pay particular attention to the auction ofmore than 3 300ha of good farmland in the Bainsvlei area near Bloemfontein. The auction will be held over two days onWednesday and Thursday and will include five farms as well as loose assets and farm implements.

A portion of the farm Philandspan will be offered on Wednesday at 11am on the property. The farm spans about 1 350ha and comprises 1340ha of dry land with cement dams and cribs. It has a grain storage/handling facility, a 1 000-ton silo and a 750-ton storage shed, all connected to a grain loader, hoppers and loading point.

On Thursday at 11am portions of the farms Donkerhoek, Harrowgate and Dwaalhoek will be offered along with farm implements. This auction will be presented on the farm Harrowgate (also known as Donkerhoek).

The Donkerhoek farms comprise about 1430ha and have about 520ha of grazing lands and 665ha of dry lands. One portion has 120ha under well-equipped irrigation, with 17 boreholes, of which 14 are coupled to the irrigation and reservoirs.

The farm Harrowgate has 250ha of grazing land and 30ha of dry land. It also has cattle handling facilities, three storage sheds, two houses and four workers’ houses. Water is supplied by a storage dam and cribs. The farm Dwaalhoek is about 290ha, and has two camps of grazing land of about 230ha. The rest is dry land.

The farm implements include various John Deere products such as tractors, a harvester, rippers, ploughs, seven-row fertiliser cultivator, nine-row cultivator with yellow tanks, a 20-ton Flintco Agri fertiliser trailer, and more.
