ART TO LOOK AT & THROUGH

Spier Wine Farm is hosting a Festival of Light Art during the holiday season, turning the vineyard estate into a celebration of multi-disciplinary artworks including light and sound art installations.

Transparent Geometries by Caitlin Warther and Wendy Dixon, above, is a large-scale light art installation that spans the width of the Spier dam.

The artists aim to produce a phenomenological experience provoked by architectural space and reflection. “We hope that the lines of light promote a heightened sensitivity to the experience of stillness in relation to the fleeting passage of time,” say the artists.
