This is quite a tonal shift if you’re at all familiar with Judge Rinder’s courtroom reality show, in which he entertains us with charming, mildmannered Britishisms like, “I think you’re telling porky pies” or learning new slang from flippant youngsters on the spot and firing it back at them, like, “Hashtag: I’m the judge!” Given the subject matter at hand — typical crime drama stuff with re-enactments and interviews and the like — we get a less animated and earnest Judge Rinder.
