Zuma faces a grilling

Sunday Times - - WEEK IN REVIEW -

President Jacob Zuma will this week come face to face with MPs for the first time since the failed motion of no confidence in his leadership three weeks ago.

Zuma is scheduled to take oral questions in the National Assembly on Thursday, ranging from state capture to the controversial nuclear build programme.

DA leader Mmusi Maimane will ask Zuma how he intends dealing with the recession and what his plans are to ensure a transparent nuclear procurement process.

Other MPs want to question Zuma on a commission of inquiry into state capture, as recommended by former public protector Thuli Madonsela.

Zuma could receive a hostile reception from the opposition benches, given his narrow victory in the no-confidence vote.
