Vidya’s transformation into brothel madam

- Kapoor to bring Daffodil to court

A CONFLICT between Rishi Kapoor and Daffodil Co-operative Housing Society over construction work on his Pali Hill land is about to get uglier.

Ten days after the society sent a letter to the actor asking him to stop work, the actor threatened to sue the society for defamation. The society, in its letter, claimed the actor had illegally obtained permits to build a tower on part of its land and also said that the vibrations from excavation work put their entire structure at risk. Most of the residents of the society, located at Nargis Dutt Road in Bandra, have come out in support of the actor and claimed that the letter was sent without informing society members and residents. They have even urged the secretary and the chairman to send an apology to the actor.

Kapoor is in no mood to forgive the society and has decided to drag them to court. “I have already spoken to my lawyers and will be filing a defamation suit against the society for defaming me and character assassination,” said the actor. ACCLAIMED film-maker Srijit Mukherji revealed on Tuesday how Vidya Balan, who is known for her jovial and downto-earth personality, completely transformed into a no-nonsense brothel madam in Begum Jaan.

“Before we started shooting Begum Jaan, we organised two workshops: one with Vidya, another with girls, because Vidya is a friendly person and she gets along well with everybody on set, and I didn’t want that. I wanted a certain kind of distance with the girls from Vidya,” he said at the trailer launch of the film.

“Vidya used to ask many questions during the workshop, like what the memories of Begum Jaan were when she was three, when she was first exploited or what happened when she got married. So at the end of the workshop, I had already finished writing four scripts… one Begum Jaan and the others prequels and sequels.

“I had to keep ready all the backstories of Begum Jaan and the girls,” added the Zulfiqar director.
