Returning on stage to ‘Pillay’ once again

- KEISHA SINGH

AFTER their debut performance together on stage turned out to be a rip-roaring affair and sold out, the Pillays are back to tickle the funny bone once again.

Veteran entertainers and comedians Neville and Mervyn Pillay are set to team up for another performance loaded with stand up comedy, skits and parodies next month.

As established performers in the local comedy scene, Neville and Mervyn have left audiences ripped with their own brand of humour that finds the funny in everything, throughout the country.

Having operated as a Radio DJ for many years at P4, East Coast and recently Lotus FM, Neville is an established voice in the world of broadcasting. His on-air antics include witty comebacks and hilarious parodies all forged into his normally humorous nature.

Mervyn is the master of mimicry, imitations and impressions. His standard delivery was previously Bollywood-styled musical shows, but when he tapped into mainstream comedy he got a new lease on life as an entertainer.

Now comedy is his signature art and he has been wowing audiences throughout South Africa with his funny business.

Neville and Mervyn have appeared in many other shows on the same line-up, such as Three Standing Up, Aunty Rumba & Friends, Bruin Ous and Char Ous Comedy Night. Their first gig together happened last month.

The show is appropriately titled Don’t Pillay With Us. Politics, ethnicity, prejudices, religion and being proudly South African, are sure to get close scrutiny during their shows scheduled for June 16 and 17 at Sibaya Casino’s izulu Theatre. Tickets cost R120 and are available from Computicket.
