Alisha’s i20 packs a thunderous wallop
HYUNDAI has come a long way since its launch in the South African market in the mid-1990s.
The i20 is one of the most popular models in the fleet and bears testament to the strides the manufacturer has made in appealing to travellers in general and the vibrant car street culture community in particular.
This week’s focus is on Phoenix resident, au pair and petrolhead Alisha Manpath. The only female among her siblings – she has two older brothers – Manpath picked up the car culture from an early age. “It’s in my blood. I love going to car shows and legal drags,” she said.
Her 2009 Hyundai i20 1.6 16V is mechanically enhanced by a gas-flowed cylinder head, a performance air filter, a 50mm branch and performance freeflow exhaust system.
“I put in a performance filter to enhance the tone and speed,” she said.
The car also has a fresh set of
17-inch Racing Edge mag wheels, which add form and function. The exterior was further customised with a range of stickers which clearly distinguish it from other i20s.
Manpath’s Hyundai features a killer sound installation comprising a custom boot set-up with two 12-inch MTX DVC subwoofers, a 15500W
Targa Monoblock amplifier, a 3000W Earthquake amplifier, two pairs of Pioneer 6-inch mids, two Pioneer super tweeters and an XL Audio preamplifier. The boot set-up includes a mirror and lighting as well as a pair of illuminated toy Bugattis for fun.
Manpath is a member of the Streetoutlaw Society, a local collective of auto-centric individuals who share a passion for cars and contribute philanthropically to the community.
She spent over R10000 on this build. SERVICE PROVIDERS:
