THE DA has laid cor­rup­tion charges against ANC sec­re­tary-gen­eral and for­mer Free State pre­mier Ace Ma­gashule fol­low­ing al­le­ga­tions he med­dled in a hous­ing tender to en­sure a com­pany al­legedly linked to his daugh­ter se­cured a con­tract worth R150 mil­lion.

Sk­weyiya died as the na­tion was pre­par­ing for the memo­rial of ser­vice of Strug­gle icon Win­nie Madik­izela-man­dela.

Sk­weyiya died on Wed­nes­day morn­ing, a day after the coun­try held the 25th com­mem­o­ra­tion of ANC-SACP leader Chris Hani’s as­sas­si­na­tion in Ekurhu­leni.

The 75-year-old Sk­weyiya died three days be­fore his birthday. See page 17
