Shaky rand wobbles back

Sunday Tribune - - METRO -

THE rand breached 15 against the US dollar early last week because of domestic concerns and the global impact of trade wars, but was on firmer ground at 14.54 early on Wednesday.

A stock market rout that started on Wall Street rolled through Asia, driving China’s benchmark index to a four-year low on Thursday and knocking down indexes in Japan, Korea and Australia.

Global stock indexes rose on Friday after their recent sharp declines on hopes that US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, will meet at the Group of 20 summit next month.
