‘Mona Lisa’ would fetch billions
LEONARDO da Vinci’s masterpiece,
Mona Lisa, would probably fetch at least $600 million (about R8.6 billion) if sold on auction in New York or London.
The starting bid would be probably around $200m and the opening price is usually considered to be the real monetary value of the painting.
Considered one of the most valuable paintings in the world, it was painted by the Italian Renaissance artist in the early 16th century. It is on permanent display in the Louvre Museum in Paris. – Auctions Writer
