DUCKS FROM PAYING DEBTS
KAIZER Chiefs brand manager Jessica Motaung s ex-fiancé
’ Ken Simmons II s reluctance
’ to pay his debt has landed him in trouble.
Simmons and his company, Jake Productions, which he co-owns with Motaung, was taken to the small claims court for refusing to pay Steven Turner an amount of R5 144.
Turner approached the Randburg Small Claims court after Simmons failed to pay him for installing six ceiling speakers in his Bryanston house, north of Jozi, in August last year.
Turner says Simmons asked him to quote for the installation of audio and Dstv equipment. It came to R13 788, which was accepted. I supplied and partly “installed six ceiling speakers in his house I could not com
– plete the work as he was doing alterations to the house,” says Turner.
He says he invoiced for the job that he completed
– R4 794 for the speakers,” he says in his statement.
He claims he kept on reminding Simmons about the outstanding amount, which he always promised to pay. This carried on until July “2011 when Simmons contacted me to ask me to fix a problem he had with one of his plasma screen TVS. On meeting him, I gave him another invoice for the ceiling speakers as he had misplaced the first one,” he says.
Turner says he fixed the TV and invoiced him for R350.
He says he last spoke to Simmons about the matter at the end of September. Since September I “haven t managed to
’ get in contact with him as he is not answering my calls and when I leave messages with his staff he does not return them,” says Turner.
The case was postponed to next week.
